Just returned from an absolutely breathtaking stay at the iconic Chobe Game Lodge, and I'm still in awe of this hidden gem nestled within Botswana's magnificent Chobe National Park. As the only permanent lodge inside this section of the park, this exclusive retreat offers an unparalleled safari experience that perfectly balances luxury with sustainability.


From the moment you arrive, you're enveloped in the lodge's stunning Moorish-inspired architecture, with its elegant high arches and barrel-vault ceilings creating an atmosphere of understated grandeur. My river-facing room was a sanctuary of sophistication, featuring handcrafted Rhodesian teak furniture and authentic African artwork that perfectly complemented the natural surroundings.


The Ultimate Safari Experience


What sets Chobe Game Lodge apart is their groundbreaking commitment to eco-luxury. I was blown away by their fleet of silent electric safari vehicles and solar-powered boats – a first in Africa! These innovative vehicles not only minimise environmental impact but also provide an incredibly intimate wildlife viewing experience. Imagine gliding silently along the Chobe River, cocktail in hand, as elephants wade through the water mere meters away. Pure magic!


The lodge's all-female guiding team, the famous 'Chobe Angels,' added an extra special touch to my stay. Their profound knowledge, passion, and unique perspective transformed each game drive and river cruise into an unforgettable adventure. Their expertise in tracking and spotting wildlife is simply extraordinary.

For those seeking the ultimate indulgence, the suites with private plunge pools are absolutely worth the splurge. After an exciting morning game drive, there's nothing quite like cooling off in your private pool while watching elephants and hippos along the riverbank.


The culinary experience at Chobe is equally impressive. Each meal was a masterful fusion of local and international flavours, served in various stunning locations – from riverside brunches to starlit dinners on the terrace. The Linyanti Bar became my favourite sunset spot, offering craft cocktails with panoramic views of the river.
